Join the Jewish Museum of Maryland for our 2024/5784 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 22. This year’s meeting will be held at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, our neighbors in Jonestown, as the JMM building is temporarily closed to the public for the first phase of our capital project.

We will celebrate the Museum’s work over the past year, approve the incoming board slate, see a live musical performance from the JMM House Band, get a preview of the upcoming Museum rebrand and building reopening, and hear remarks from Terri Freeman, Executive Director of the Lewis Museum.

We’ll also host a panel discussion exploring the theme of this year’s Annual Meeting, l’dor va’dor. This Hebrew phrase, which means “from generation to generation,” refers to the ways that cultural, religious, culinary, and other traditions are passed from one generation to another. Our panel will discuss intergenerational cultural transmission and will feature Savannah Wood, artist and Executive Director of Afro Charities, and Lisa Aslan, Mizrahi Collective member and Senior Director of Training and Capacity Building at Health Resources in Action, and will be moderated by JMM Archivist Acadia Roher

The program runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Afterward there will be a reception from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, where attendees will have the chance to view the Lewis Museum’s permanent exhibition and their current show, BLACK WOMAN GENIUS: Elizabeth Talford Scott—Tapestries of Generations.

Food and drink: Kosher heavy hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages will be served.

Accessibility: The Museum space is physically accessible. Food will be served indoors. Face masks are recommended but not required at this event. Complimentary masks will be provided.

Parking: $9 validated parking is available across the street from the Lewis Museum in the PMI Garage at 815 E. Pratt Street. Bring your parking ticket to the Museum’s main entrance to have it validated. Free and metered on-street parking is also available near the Museum.
